Ice Skating at The Natural History Museum

Before I returned back home for a sunny Kenyan Christmas (the reason for my lack of postings recently – the internet is sooo slooow!) I went to The Natural History Museum to go ice-skating. To be clear, I am a beach baby through and through and outside of a mojito, ice is not an old friend of mine, so I was a little apprehensive to say the least!

Despite being like a fish out of water, I approached the ice rink full of Dancing On Ice, glittering gusto (“if that girl off Hollyoaks can do it, so can I”) and after a wobbly start (and a few moments where I contemplated grabbing a little penguin stabilizer off a nearby child) I was up, up and awaaay, looping around the ice to the pumping sounds of... Westlife. I really recommend you go (and don’t forget your gloves, hat and… ipod!)

The Ice Rink is open until the 8th of January 2012 and tickets (from £8) can be bought here.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld's Lingerie Collection

Julia Restoin Roitfeld, model and daughter of ex-French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, has designed a capsule collection of vintage inspired lingerie with Kiki de Monparnasse - the American lingerie label named after the chic French actress at the heart of the 1920 social scene in the Montparnasse district of Paris.

The result of the collaboration is a romantic, boudoir-esq collection of lacy robes, underwired corselette bras in satin and French lace and matching high waisted bottoms from times gone by. Julia says, “Lingerie should feel as good to wear as it looks… I buy lingerie for myself, not even for my boyfriend… I think it is really important for a woman to feel good about herself and buying lingerie that makes you feel good is a great way to start. Even if it’s just for yourself—even if no one else sees it—you know it, you feel it, and I believe it gives you that extra confidence.”

The underwear is beautfully modelled by Julia herself in a series of black and white pictures which are reminicent of a young Elizabeth Taylor circa 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.'

The range will be available online here from December 14.

Harvey Nichols Walk of Shame

In stark contrast to the tear-jerking John Lewis advert, Harvey Nichols have released their own take on Christmas in this hilarious viral advert.

With no tinsel, no presents, no wise men… and certainly no angels... Harvey Nichols promises to turn a girl’s walk of shame into a stride of pride this festive season, with the help of their stylish collection of womenswear.

Julia Bowe, group-marketing director at Harvey Nichols says, “A fabulous dress teamed with a great pair of shoes will atone for a multitude of sins in our eyes."

Marni on the Highstreet

Move over Donatella…

Hot on Versace’s stiletto heels, we now have a gorgeous looking Marni collaboration with H&M to look forward to - I am VERY excited - I adore their bold patterns and accessories.

Famed for their original, playful prints and inventive spirit, the Founder and Creative Director of Marni, Consuelo Castiglioni, has designed a Spring collection for H&M which will include both clothing and accessories in a range of fabrics from silk to crisp cotton poplin.

"I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints," commented Consuelo Castiglioni, "as always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements."
